Makini Schools was established in February 1978. It was then named the Riara Gardens Academy and started as a nursery school with only 8 children. The school is operated and owned by ADvTech Ltd, Scholé, and Caerus. ADvTECH holds 71%, Scholé holds 25%, and Caerus holds 4%.
The school presented the best KCPE 2019 candidate in Nairobi county. Delcy Muhani Chelangat Asienga, a student from Makini school, topped Nairobi county by scoring a total of 437 marks in KCPE 2019.
